On The Go Lunch...

Trying to follow this diet can sometimes be a nightmare particularly when you are out and about shopping or in need of a quick and easy lunch whilst at work.  As I continue this diet I will keep updating anything I find that is suitable.  Today's great find:

Starbucks Smoked Gammon Gluten Free Sandwich (ham, tomato, lettuce and mayo - all suitable on FODMAP diet)

Very happy to have found this...if your anything like me a trip to refuel whilst you are shopping is always a necessity. Now instead of having to roam the streets for a cafe selling a jacket potato I can join my partner in stopping for a sandwich and coffee! Using the Genius bread means you can taste the slight difference however the flavors of the filling means it goes down just as well as any other packet sandwich you are use to.  At £2.85 takeaway it is steep however for pure ease I give it a 4 out of 5.

Welcome....

Having suffered from IBS for around 3 years, it was around a month ago that I finally got to my whits end with it all! As a 25 year old woman, IBS is hardly the most attractive of problems and it literally was taking over my life, if I didn't wake up with stomach ache I went to sleep with stomach ache, constantly felt bloated and gassy and incredibly tired... it was a never ending cycle!  Though I have a whole shelf of IBS books at home and gone through endless unpleasant procedures, nothing has seem to work in the past.. until I came across this new diet on the web called FODMAP.  Its a very strict diet restricting foods that you would never even think could trigger symptoms but having been following it for the past few weeks I can't believe the positive effects it has had! I have only slipped up a couple of times and apart from these times I seem to be IBS free! Anyone who suffers will understand what a relief this has been!  I have decided to start this blog to help other people in a similar situation as myself with recipe ideas, products, restaurant options and brands that have been useful for me!  I can help with any questions anyone has and though I am not a qualified nutritionist, being a sufferer for so long means I have a bloody good idea of what I am on about and what makes a sore stomach and what doesn't!
